Architectural Harmony in Hollywood

This residence in Hollywood, Florida, stands as a testament to the power of materiality in contemporary architecture. Designed with a strong emphasis on clean lines, natural textures, and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, the project features an extensive application of Covet aluminum battens, selected in the sophisticated Weebu Mahogany finish to deliver both warmth and resilience

To articulate the vertical rhythm of the lower façade, Kabebari 2”x2” profiles were installed over precision-cut backing sheets, providing depth, structure, and shadow play across the surface. These battens were used not merely as a decorative feature, but as a functional architectural solution—framing access points and subtly segmenting the outdoor zone

In tandem, Covet planks were used to wrap key volumes, including structural columns, utility doors, and the outdoor kitchen enclosure, achieving continuity in tone and material while emphasizing the modular geometry of the architecture. The planks also provide a refined contrast to the honed travertine walls and large-format porcelain floors, highlighting the richness of the woodgrain detail against neutral, monolithic surfaces.

The outdoor entertainment area is anchored by a custom BBQ station, fully integrated into the architectural envelope and finished in Covet to maintain visual harmony. Above, expansive cantilevered roof lines and glass railings underscore the modernist language, while surrounding trees reflect softly across the high-performance glazing blurring boundaries between nature and structure.

More than a simple installation, this project reflects Urbanik Surfaces’ commitment to delivering aesthetic consistency, durable performance, and tailored solutions for each unique architectural vision. The use of Covet battens in this context goes beyond cladding; it becomes an integral part of the design narrative blending functional detailing with emotional warmth and timeless elegance.

This project also demonstrates the adaptability of Covet systems to complex architectural geometries. The clean modularity of the Kabebari battens allows for a seamless integration around corners, soffits, and transitional zones enhancing not just the aesthetic rhythm but also offering effective protection against weathering in exposed outdoor conditions. By leveraging prefabricated backing sheets and concealed fixings, the installation maintained a clean visual line free of surface interruptions, reinforcing the minimalist design

From an architectural perspective, this residence explores the balance between form, function, and material honesty. The tactile richness of the wood-look aluminum contrasts yet complements the cool stone and smooth stucco elements, offering a grounded yet sophisticated expression of outdoor living. The result is a cohesive façade system that doesn’t just elevate the exterior appearance—it supports the project’s environmental performance, low maintenance strategy, and long-term durability in South Florida’s coastal climate.
